The East Campus and Textile Technology Center in Belmont became part of Gaston College in 2005. It was founded in 1941 as the North Carolina Vocational Textile School and was later renamed the N.C. Center for Applied Textile Technology. The center does new and sample product development, product testing, training and consulting for the textile industry. Numerous continuing education classes and some curriculum classes are offered on the campus. A planned addition to the Classroom Buiding will allow for a substantial increase in the number of curriculum classes offered on the Belmont campus.
